Devin

Devin is also playing in the All American Slugfest for the 12U Indiana Blazers. They played three games yesterday and are undefeated. We watched the first two games. Devin pitched in the 3rd game and hit a homerun! Sounds like we missed a great game.

All American Slugfest

It is a baseball weekend. Friday night, TJ and his teammates played their first game in the tourney and won. The Cobras returned to the fields today. TJ pitched during the first game with his Papa Bruce and Papaw Mann cheering him on. Jennifer Miller and her two girls, Maya & Darby were also there to watch TJ play. It was a hot one. The Cobras won their morning game against the Mustangs but lost their second game against the home team, the Westfield Rocks. They will continue the tourney tomorrow with thier first game scheduled for 4 pm. Each win will advance them to the championship. I am packing the cooler for three games!

Cobra Update

TJ and his teammates played in a tournament at the Bandit Yard in Greenfield, Indiana last weekend. They started thier first game at 6 p.m. which was called in the 5th inning due to lightning. They started their second game around 8:45 p.m. after the storm passed and finished up with a tough loss. On Saturday TJ pitched two innings and they won in the rain! The team returned on Sunday to win their first game but lost the 2nd game 6 to 2 to the #1 seeded team to finish the tournament. They travel to Noblesville this weekend with a game scheduled for Friday night and two on Saturday. We are hoping team hits a winning streak!

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.
Each kid will play two sports & either take music or dance classes. There is no fast food.
Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.
In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.
Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time--no emailing.
Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment.
He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care.
He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function.
Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.
The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done.
The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed. During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, & have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties.
They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.
They will need to read a book to the kids each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 7:00 am.
A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information:
each child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name.
Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.
The kids vote them off the island based on performance.
The last man wins only if...
he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.
If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be called Mother!

Happy Mother’s Day!

3rd Grade Heptathlon

TJ heaving the baseball a mighty distance!
On your mark, get set, go......

Yep - for 3rd grade that is the high jump!

Antonio, Jack, Ian & TJ

The third graders competed this evening in 7 track events. Each of them ran the 50m, 100m, 200m and 800m. They also did the long jump, high jump, and baseball throw (3rd grade rendition of the shot-put). No surprise - TJ threw his baseball the farthest. He competed well in the short distance events but I was thinking we may have to carry him across the finish line as he rounded the final curve in the 800m. GO TIGERS!

Skiles Test Cobras

2009 Cobras!
TJ at Bat!

TJ chose to play on a full time travel baseball team this year. Most of this 10U team has been together playing Skiles Test Cobra All-Stars since they were 7/8 year olds. Some of TJ's best buds are his baseball teammates.

Due to heavy rains this past week, the Cobras played indoors Friday and Saturday evenings. The modified rules made the game very interesting and somewhat confusing. The team has gotten off to a slow start this season learning "high school rules" with lead offs, steals and bawks. TJ has been playing a lot of 2nd base and went 3 for 3 on Friday night and snagged an impressive line drive! He went 2 for 3 with a walk and turned two double plays Saturday evening. Although his team tied one and lost the other - TJ had two outstanding games!

Issac

He is down there ready to challenge his next opponent.

For the 3rd year in a row, TJ competed in the annual Math Tournament on Saturday. His team "CKS Sumbuddies" practiced weekly after school. They did really well. TJ earned enough points for an Honorable Mention Award. He was focused on Hall of Fame but tied two of the five games.
