Whirlwind of a Week

Last weekend we met TJ's new baseball team - the Indiana Prospects. The coaches hosted a get to know your teammates dinner at Monical's Pizza. They seem like an entertaining crew! TJ seemed to fit right in. They will start with Fall conditioning soon.

In the meantime, TJ's football team played another great game on Saturday. They won 7-0. TJ made a terrific interception to stop the oppositions advancement to the goal line! Following the game, five of TJ's teammates gathered at our house for lunch and an afternoon of capture the flag, tag, and of course, more football! While the boys played, Todd sodded the area around the fire pit and I cleaned out the flower beds. So many leaves have already fallen. We also cut down several low hanging branches. Around 6 p.m. we rounded up the boys, made them wash up and headed to the school for a spaghetti dinner at which time we returned each to their respective parents!

Today, we attended the St. Simon vs. St. Matthew 5th grade football game since between the two teams - we knew most of the players from baseball. Then we headed to IBA for TJ's basketball games. After being down 25 to 5 at halftime, the Aztecs won their game with a last minute shot. The other Aztec Team was short players so we stayed and TJ played with them. Unfortuantely, it was not much of match with the opposing team being atleast 2 heads taller than each of our players! It is a 4-5 grade league and we are hoping the opposing team was ALL 5th graders.

Between all of this, TJ attended school, aced his spelling test, managed to escape any conduct cuts and received several As and a few Bs on his work papers! He had his piano lesson on Friday and we signed him up for the school's basketball team and chess club.
Now we are home, TJ is showered, we have had dinner and we are ready to pull up the couch and the remote control - Whew!

Pink

My good friend Jennifer and her husband Eric traveled to China in coordination with Eric completing his MBA leaving behind their precious daughters ages 3 and 2. The BFFB pitched in with kid duty on the weekends to give Jennifer's cousin and his wife a chance to relax (who were watching them during the week). Lauren and Vicki took the first weekend which Melissa and I thought could be good or bad for us. We hoped that by the 2nd weekend, Maya and Darby would be over the fact that Mom & Dad were 1/2 way across the world but we also worried that the juggling of caregivers might be too much for them by the 2nd weekend as well. Anyway, Melissa and I took charge Friday evening. During the course of the weekend, we painted nails, read books, cheered on TJ's football team as well as his basketball team, watched Noggin, played with Sabrina (Melissa's new dog), collected acorns in the yard, played kitchen, colored, we fed them, we bathed them (one each night), figured out how to do pig-tails (a first for me) and generally got our fill of PINK! It was a fun but very exhausting weekend. You forget how busy they can be 24/7 at that age.

Winning Weekend!

Saturday started early.......
GARAGE SALE!
The day started at 7 a.m. with a neighborhood garage sale. On Wednesday night, I decided to throw some stuff into the garage in an effort to clean out a good portion of the basement. I felt like I won the lottery with $230 in profits and 99% of the junk is gone! YAHOO.
RIVALS - CHATARD & CATHEDRAL
We then took some of our earnings and caravaned with friends to Lucas Oil Stadium as Chatard and Cathedral battled on the field. All CYO Players were allowed on the field before the game to create tunnels for both teams.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARRETT & DAVE!
We topped the day off with a birthday celebration! With water balloons and air soft guns in hand, the boys ran amuck while parents enjoyed a cookout and beverages!

Then it was Sunday.........
TIGERS WIN!

We started the day cheering the Tigers to a victory over St. Thomas. TJ caught a pass and ran 40+ yards to advance the team within the 10 yard line to score. Then TJ caught a pass for the extra point. In the final plays of the 4th quarter TJ played quarterback to end the game!

AZTECS WIN!
After a couple hours of rest, we cheered TJ and his Aztec basketball teammates to a win over the Heat. It was a close game with the Aztecs winning by two points. WHEW!

TJ's Papa Bruce and Todd's Mom (Grammy) witnessed both wins!
COLTS WIN!
Due to parental obligations to attend our son's sporting events, we were unable to attend the season opener but our Colts did not disappoint!

Labor Day Weekend

It was a great weekend. Todd and I along with friends spent the weekend in Kentucky at Pat & Kirstine's cabin. They have 600 acres of wilderness and a private lake. They generously invited us all to join them. Many laughs, great food, too many drinks and a good time was had by all. The Dove Commander was initiated. We enjoyed a Safari hay-ride by moonlight (or was that lightning). Penelope (the Ostrich) posed for a photo op and provided an egg that was whipped up one morning and provided enough for all! The fishing competition was followed by cornhole and the hot tub was conveniently located next to the fire pit! Ah-we were definately roughing it - NOT.

Where was TJ you ask.... well he joined his Uncle Bill, Aunt Diana and Cousin Devin for their annual trip to Lake Norris in Tennessee. We received a text message mid-weekend that he was having a blast. He also was able to get up on the wake board for the first time and the tales he is telling of his inner-tubing adventures are getting better by the hour. He loves the time he spends with them and is sad when the weekend ends! He is already talking about next year's trip.

We hope you had as much fun with family and/or friends as we did! Happy Labor Day!
