Spring Break 2011 - CHICAGO

This year, we did a long weekend in Chicago. We departed Saturday with tickets to the 4 p.m. show of The Blue Man Group. TJ had no idea what to expect and loved the show! We stayed downtown at the Marriott so TJ enjoyed his first taxi ride. His eyes were as big as dinner plates as our driver weaved in and out of traffic!

Sunday morning we visited the Shedd Aquarium. Highly recommend it but arrive early as the entrance lines were very long.

We ate well. We dined at Harry Careys and the Cheesecake Factory. Both times lucked out with seating in the bar so we could catch up on the NCAA games. WAY TO GO BUTLER!!!!!!

TJ wanted to visit Nike Town so we hiked the Magnificient Mile - Ahhhh the stores! Good thing for my wallet that it was too cold to really shop til I dropped.

On Sunday we met up with TJ's classmate, Nolan and his family at the Museum of Science and Industry. Too much to see, do and learn in one day. Must return! Todd and I really enjoyed the Human Body exhibit - TJ saw the first display, went white and sat it out! He will not be burdening us with med school!

All in all it was a great long weekend. We are considering New York for Fall Break!

Ice Skating

Well.......we are pretty sure this is only TJ's second appearance on ice. His Uncle Doug took him ice skating when he was in kindergarten and the report was "he is not a natural" so we skipped the hockey lessons and failed to take him again...until his Orthodontist hosted an ice skating party last week and TJ wanted to go............so I put on skates and helped him around the rink twice before letting go and pushing him the middle with his friends. He did fine and only fell once.

TJ chose to be a church server. He went through training a couple weeks ago and was scheduled for his first Mass this morning. He served with two 8th grade experienced students! He did great!

Bye Bye Toothfairy

The last baby tooth has fallen. Now TJ's orthodontist can really get to work making room for all those adult teeth!

Tax Season

Blogging has been delayed by tax season. It is an annual event that helps puts food on our table and pays the utilities, however the hours increase and by the time I find my way home, my feet hurt and my eyes are burning from looking at a computer all day. So...not much to report for the first part of March. TJ finished up basketball and is practicing baseball three times a week with his new travel team. He is also finishing up his sessions with Accleration Indiana. His pitching velocity has increasd 5 mph. Pretty good results for just 12 sessions! Todd volunteered to coach the 7th grade CTK CYO baseball team. They had their first practice today. Tomorrow, we will be joining Doug and his girlfriend, Amanda in Martinsville to celebrate Dad's birthday which is March 15th.

Hope you have a good St. Patrick's Day!
