Spring Break 2010

This is my 15th tax season with Somerset CPAs. When I was hired by the firm the rule was no vacations or sick days from January 1st through April 15th. I think I can count the number of days I missed during those months/years on two hands. So....this year I asked and was granted a Spring Break Vacation! YAHOO. To guarantee sunshine and warm weather, we decided to splurge on a trip to Cancun. We stayed at the all-inclusive resort, Moon Palace on the southern edge of the hotel zone. It was wonderful. We arrived on Sunday, spent Monday and Tuesday poolside discovering the many activities available to us at the resort. TJ played putt-putt (dodging the lizards on the course), chess and basketball, painted ceramics, and spent some time beating the high scores in the arcade. Todd and I donated much of our time to the bars, including the swim up bars in the eight pools! Each evening the resort promotes an outdoor show. One night we watched Michael Jackson, another night was fire dancers, and even an evening of Karoke! On Wednesday, we ventured to the Wet&Wild Water Park which was included in our all-inclusive package. Thursday was another pool day to rest up for our excursion to Chichen-Itza on Friday. It was a long day but worth it. TJ was disappointed that he could not climb the 90 steps to the top but Todd and I were relieved as it was very HOT! We returned to the US on Sunday with a stamp in our passports, suitcases of dirty clothes and wet swim suits. We had a great time with no complaints. It was nice to spend time together! I could definately get use to "Spring Break".

Plumbing Drama

Yep. Todd remodeled the small bathroom and it looks fantastic. Small problem. Toilet does not function properly so we have been down to one potty for about 3 weeks while the professional plumber tries to figure out what is wrong with the 60 year old pipes. Solution = replace them.

Butler Bulldogs

It was day of basketball. First, TJ and his FBA All Star teammates lost big to the Southside Rebels. Tj had 6 points and 9 rebounds but the other team was a scoring machine! Then we attended the semi-final games of the Horizon League Tournament at Hinkle Fieldhouse last night. Butler was victorious and will play Wright State for the championship on Tuesday. Go Bulldogs.
